Winter Lecture Series: Unitarian Church

The Winter Lecture Series at the Unitarian Church of Lincoln, open to the public without charge, is focused on Iran and will present local and national experts who will explore Iran’s recent history and culture and its relationship with its Arab and Turkish neighbors and with the United States. Presentations are at the Church,6300 A Street, Sunday evenings, 7:00-8:30, beginning January 27 and culminating in a dinner featuring Iranian cuisine March 10.

The topic and presenters are as follows:

January 27: Evolving Iran: The Theocracy Deals with the 21st Century
Professor Barbara Flanagan, Central Washingon University

February 10: Iranian Literature and Culture
Professor Franklin Lewis, University of Chicago

February 17: Iran Before and After the Arab Spring
Professor Mahmood Monshipouri, San Francisco State University

February 24: Religion and Politics in Iran and Turkey
Professor Ramazan Kilinc, UNO

March 3: Relations between the Governments of Iran & the U.S.
A State Department Representative TBA

March 10: Dinner, 6:00, followed by Panel Discussion with Iranian people and local scholars. Registration required
